Tips to Keep Your Sales Pitch Fresh

In honor of our 2011 Sales Pitch Contest (cosponsored by PGi and iMeet), here are two tips to keep your sales pitch fresh in a 2.0 world:

1) Lose the jargon. “Corporate-speak and insider industry terms are generally more confusing than helpful to someone who’s asked you a straightforward question. Jargon limits your reach to folks who already understand those phrases and terms. What about the people who could use your solution or service but don’t know it yet?” (Hat tip: Selling Power Editors).

2) Find a (non-corny) prop. “Is there something small but significant you could keep in a jacket pocket at all times to help explain what you do and enhance your sales pitch? A prepared video that you could show on your iPad or other mobile device is a great way to make you stand out and bring your story to life.”(Hat tip: Matt Heinz).

What do you say — is your sales pitch an award-worthy? Fire up your web cam, record a 60-second video of your sales pitch, and enter it here by November 11 for a chance to win:

  • an iPad2,
  • 10 free iMeet rooms for 1 year, or
  • a complimentary pass to a Sales 2.0 Conference event in 2012.

We’ll announce the winner at our Sales Strategies in a Social & Mobile World Conference in Santa Monica on November 15. Good luck!
